1. Keep it calm at home the first couple of days until puppy gets use to it's new home.
This can be a very traumatic time for the puppy.

2. Keep food and water in the same room as the pup while playing with it because he
will not know the house well enough (at first) to go get a drink.

3. Hypoglycemia- mostly affects small breeds between 5 and 16 weeks but can be any size puppy. It is when their blood sugar goes down because of nervousness from so much unknown in a new home. If puppy is not eating enough or playing too hard he can wear himself out and get hypoglycemic. He will be very weak and tired or can not stand. If this should happen QUICKLY give him Honey or Karo Syrup. Put it on your finger and stick it up on the roof of his mouth. Wait 10 - 15 min. If pup does not respond repeat and wait again. If there is no responds rush to vet. Also rubbing puppy to help circulation is good.

4. Feed puppy a small amount of food each time so that you can tell if food is missing.
It is very important that your puppy eats so he doesnt get hypoglycemic. If he refuses
to eat try greek yogurt, cottage cheese or can dog food.

5. ALWAYS start with a new bag of what the puppy is already eating. If you change to
another brand dog food do it gradually on 2nd bag. Start with 1/4 of new to 3/4 of old.
Then 1/2 & 1/2, and 3/4 new to 1/4 old. Take about a week to completely change to
keep puppy from getting upset stomach.

6. If you choose to crate train be aware of where you place the crate. Do not put under a window or drafty area in the winter time and be aware of your vents because if puppy is too cold or hot he cannot move out of the way.

7.*****Until pup has had ALL shots (usually by 14 wks old) do NOT put him on public
ground. Parvo is only partially covered with each shot and will be best covered after
the booster shot. Keep pup in your lap at vet. Do not use rest areas, go to parks or
even your own front yard. 2 wks after booster shot he will be covered as well as the
shot can do. Remember no shot is 100% coverage guaranteed.
